"As a founder, I believe the most important thing is to stay true to your mission, even when the path gets tough. Building Anonyfy has taught me that real change requires persistence’’
Sandra Zemke, Founder and CEO of Anonyfy
Sandra Zemke is the founder and CEO of Anonyfy, a groundbreaking platform designed to transform the recruitment process by eliminating bias.
In this interview, Sandra shares how Anonyfy is utilizing advanced technology, to level the playing field for all candidates. She is also an advocate for embracing diversity, nurturing talent, and seeking out supportive communities to fuel growth.
- What is the core mission of Anonyfy, and how do you envision it setting a new standard for fair and efficient hiring?
Our mission is: Fair chances for everyone - Creating a trusted place to meet for bias-free recruiting. We have built a platform where talents can showcase their true skills - unbiased. And where companies can reach out to diverse talent and evaluate their skills, focusing only on what matters - unbiased.
We achieve this by using a new algorithm, shifting anonymization to a new level. We added a recorded interview with voice modulation, to hide the gender of the talent. The whole process is highly digitized, efficient and UX/UI optimized.
2. What challenges have you faced in founding Anonyfy, and how have you overcome them while staying true to your values?
The first and ongoing challenge is funding. Building a software platform is expensive. And the German startup funding market has almost completely dried up since 2022. The second big challenge is the German market itself. German companies are quite change-averse - but at the same time they have the biggest problems to become more innovative and to find the right talent.
With more money, we would enter other markets in parallel that are more mature in terms of diversity, fairness and anti-discrimination.
3. How do you plan to balance the use of technology with human elements in the hiring process to ensure fairness and efficiency?
We are convinced that the human factor in recruitment is key. Our algorithms do not decide, but we support human decision making by hiding all irrelevant information. All ratings are done my humans, all decisions are made by humans. But we help them to optimize the process – according to the most actuals scientific standards.
4. What advice would you give to aspiring female founders?
Get advice, preferably from a group of fellow founders. I found great advice at Guide e.v. in Munich - they specifically support female founders. Find similar groups in your area - shape your idea, get input, get guidance. Surround yourself with helpful people who cheer you up. And be sure to manage and plan your cash flow - your business has to pay your bills.
Thank you Sandra for the Interview and insights, we are proud to have you as a Grace mentor!
