ReloSync is about more than just moving; it’s about creating a sense of belonging from day one. We’re here to turn a new country into a new home.
Niharika Rakheja Co-founder and CEO of ReloSync
When starting ReloSync, Nia was driven by a vision to simplify the often daunting experience of moving to a new country. Inspired by her own relocation challenges, she wanted to create a tool that would transform the way people navigate unfamiliar environments, from logistics to community connections.
In this interview, Nia reflects on how her personal experiences shaped ReloSync, shares insights on the company’s role in fostering inclusion for newcomers, and discusses her journey as a CEO in the tech space.
What inspired you to create ReloSync, and how did your previous experiences influence your approach to building this company?
Honestly, ReloSync came from my own frustrations with moving to new countries. Every time, it was like starting from scratch—navigating paperwork, finding community, and trying to figure out the basics. My background in direct-to-consumer businesses really helped me see that this is a problem we could simplify. I thought, why not create a smoother, more intuitive way to make this journey easier.
As someone passionate about immigration tech, what personal experiences shaped your desire to transform relocation and integration?
I’ve been the ‘new person’ in a country a few times, and it’s not always fun. There’s this mix of excitement and just… feeling lost. I remember thinking, ‘Why isn’t there a guide for this?’ Those experiences really drove me to start ReloSync—so that others don’t have to go through the same lonely, confusing process.
How is ReloSync working to foster a sense of belonging and inclusion for newcomers, and why is this aspect of relocation so important?
We’re all about making people feel like they belong, right from day one. ReloSync helps newcomers navigate the practical stuff, but also connects them to communities, events, and resources. It’s not just about moving; it’s about feeling at home. Integration isn’t just important—it’s what turns a move into a new chapter.
As the CEO of ReloSync, how would you describe your leadership style, and how has it evolved since the company’s founding?
I’d say my leadership style is collaborative and empathetic. When ReloSync started, I was more hands-on with everything, but I’ve learned to trust my team and let them shine. It’s been a shift from doing to guiding, and honestly, I’m still learning every day.
How do you envision scaling ReloSync across Europe, and what challenges do you foresee as you expand your reach and partnerships?
We’re focused on expanding across Europe because there’s a lot of movement here. But scaling isn’t just about adding users; it’s about building partnerships and understanding local nuances. Challenges? For sure. Different regulations, different cultures, but that’s what makes it exciting.
As a feminist and advocate for DEI, how do you support other female founders and underrepresented groups in the tech and startup ecosystems?
I’m all about paying it forward. The startup world can feel intimidating, especially for women and underrepresented groups. I try to mentor, share resources, and be that person who says, ‘Yes, you can do this.’ Because sometimes, all you need is someone who believes in you.
What advice would you give to aspiring female entrepreneurs, particularly those working in tech and social impact, who want to build solutions that drive change?
Don’t wait for the ‘perfect’ moment or plan. Start messy, learn as you go, and don’t be afraid to ask for help. And if you’re building in tech or social impact, remember that it’s okay to be ambitious. The world needs your ideas, even if they feel impossible right now.
Thank you Nia for the Interview and insights, we are proud to have you as a Grace mentor!
