Founding FEMboss was driven by my personal journey and the challenges I faced as a woman entrepreneur.

Anja, the founder and CEO of FEMboss, is dedicated to transforming the landscape of female entrepreneurship. Drawing from her own experiences as an entrepreneur, Anja established FEMboss in 2019 to address the challenges women face when starting their businesses. With a background in events and a passion for female empowerment, she created FEMboss to provide women with the networks and support they need to succeed.  

In this interview, Anja shares her personal and professional journey, offering insights into her approach to entrepreneurship and her commitment to helping women build self-determined lives and successful businesses.  

What inspired you to start FEMboss, and how did your background influence your approach to entrepreneurship and female empowerment?  

The inspiration for FEMboss came from my own journey as an entrepreneur. I founded FEMboss in 2019 because I experienced firsthand the challenges many women face when starting their own businesses: I was desperately searching for cool women out there, who also have big dreams and are bold and courageous. I realized the lack of networks and support for women wanting to venture into self-employment. I wanted to fill that gap. My background in events, bringing people together and my commitment to female empowerment taught me the importance of connecting women and providing them with the tools they need to succeed.  

What should readers know about you? Apart from being the founder of FEMboss?

In addition to being the founder of FEMboss, I am also a business mentor. I help women make their businesses profitable and achieve their professional goals. I am married, have a dog, live in Stuttgart, and worked several years in a famous design trade company.  At the age of 26 I founded my first own GmbH and since back then I founded 4 more companies. I am ambitious, courageous and visionary. I love to connect with like-minded people and I strongly believe that through innovation and empathy, we can achieve great things.  

How does FEMboss help women build a self-determined life and a successful business?  

FEMboss offers women a platform to connect, exchange ideas, and learn from each other. We organize both online and offline events where founders can share their experiences and receive valuable tips. Additionally, we make women and their businesses visible, help them reach their target audiences, and support them in defining and achieving their goals. And yes, we celebrate every tiny and big win with our members - so important!  

How do you hope FEMboss will influence the broader landscape of business and entrepreneurship, particularly for women, in the future?

I hope FEMboss will significantly change the entrepreneurial landscape by encouraging and empowering more women to take the step into self-employment. By connecting and supporting women, we contribute to their ability to run their businesses more successfully and independently. I envision creating a culture where female empowerment and equality in business are a given, thereby strengthening diversity and innovation in the economy.  

What advice would you give to aspiring female founders, who are just starting out there?  

• Networking: Take every opportunity to connect with other founders. Support and inspiration are often found in your network.
• Be brave: Don't be afraid of making mistakes. Every mistake is a learning experience that will help you grow.
• Authenticity: Stay true to yourself and find your own pace. Your business should reflect your values and vision.
• Structure: Develop a clear structure and priorities for your daily life. Time management is key to avoiding overwhelm.
• Mentoring: Find a mentor who can guide and support you on your journey.
